Financial Literacy Education Program and Awareness Campaign (15th – 24th March 2010 “Financial Literacy Education & Awareness Campaign¿ is a mass awareness program spearheaded by the RMA in collaboration with the FIs in Bhutan mainly with an objective to educate the public at large on the services provided by different financial institutions their role and responsibilities the rights of the clients of the FIs while doing business with the them and to also to improve the public’s understanding of the financial sector. The program will be conducted by the RMA in different phases with the western zone targeted in the first phase. The campaign will take off from the capital on 15th March and will end by March 24th in Chukha. The campaign will be supplemented by a BBS live TV program on 16th and 17th March 2010. The program will comprise of two parts starting with short presentations by the financial institutions representative followed by a Q&A session. During the Q&A session the public can clarify their doubts as well as put forward any kind of queries pertaining to the services provided by the FIs in Bhutan. Accordingly the program will help the people to better understand the role of the financial institutions their functions products and services. This program would also enable the RMA to meet its objective of improving financial inclusion in Bhutan as well as enable the public to develop their skill in making sound financial decisions recognize and address credit issues avoid predatory lenders and credit scam
