Students Business Seedling (SBS) Program

His Majesty visited Desi High school on 1st March 2018 and commanded RMA to organize a student business idea competition to promote innovative business and introduce entrepreneurship through creatuve and innovative thinking. SBS program was thus conceptualized to provide hands-on experience with effective learning on entrepreneurship skills at an early age. The program includes design thinking workshops, prototype building, mentoring sessions, field visits, development of simple business proposals and pitching business ideas.

A total of 23 students were selected to pitch ideas and the top three were awarded HM’s scholarship and two more were awarded RMA’s scholarship support.

SBS program at gelephu (20th -30th January, 2020)

Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) in collaboration with Entrepreneurship and Self-Employment Division (ESED) under Department of Employment of Human Resources (DoEHR) of Ministry of Labour and Human Resources (MoLHR) conducted “Student Business Seedling” Program at Gelephu in Sarpang Dzongkhag. The SBS program was aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and involved building entrepreneurial competencies for students and YE-Banking teachers with specific attention to develop and enhance creativity and innovation. A total of 63 students, 35 girls and 28 boys participated in the program and the top 5 students were awarded cash prizes.

The 10 days program consisted of two courses:

  1. Entrepreneurship education
  2. STEMSEL (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics Social Learning Enterprise)

The STEMSEL program was included to encourage participants to take interest in programming in an era where digitalization is getting more prominent by the minute. It teaches the participants to use the programming lessons in their real life to capitalize their ideas as commercially viable ventures in future.

Signing of MoU between FINAP Project 2019-2023 and Department of Employment and Human Resources, MoLHR

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Financial Inclusion and National Action Plan (FINAP) 2019-2023 Project and Department of Employment of Human Resource (DoEHR) of Ministry of Labour and Human Resources (MoLHR). The signatories to the MoU included the Deputy Governor Phajo Dorjee from Royal Monetary Authority representing FINAP 2019-2023 Project with Director General Sherab Tenzin from DoEHR. The MoU will provide a basis to collaborate on promoting entrepreneurship education and CSI start-ups specifically under pre-accelerator, micro- accelerator and technical support for incubation centers.
