The Incentive eligible under this scheme has been revamped and enhanced from 2 percent to 10 percent in recognition of the significant contributions of the incentive scheme in boosting the remittance inflow and the foreign currency reserves; and promoting savings and investments since May 2021.

In line with the RMA Circular referenced RMA/RSD/293 dated 21st July 2016, updated on 8th August 2016, the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan has revised the Single MLR from 6.92 percent (as of June 2022) to 6.88 percent in December 2022. The revised MLR shall remain effective for the next six months commencing March 2023 until August 2023.

The Hon¿ble Governor met with the CEOs and Deputy CEOs of the Financial Institutions over a one hour meeting convened at the RMA for the purpose of informing and sensitizing the FIs with regard to the programs and measures that the RMA intends to implement shortly in its bid to re-build the confidence of both Bhutanese citizens and the Indian merchants in the Ngultrum through easing access to Rupee (opening of exchange counters at the RMA).

The Hon¿ble Prime Minister and the Finance Minister accompanied by senior officials of the Ministry of Finance visited the RMA on the occasion of RMA¿s formal handing over of surplus of Nu.788M generated by the RMA for the Financial Year 2014-2015 to the Ministry of Finance. The occasion was also attended by the RMA Board of Directors.

A day long ¿Dolma-Yudog¿ Rimdro was conducted at the RMA and the Rimdro was conducted by Khenpo Karpo Rinpoche along with 17 other monks.

Appointment of New Governor
DECEMBER 07, 2015

His Majesty the King conferred Tashi Khadar to Dasho Penjore on 7th December 2015 appointing him as the new Governor of the Royal Monetary Authority. Dasho Penjore last served as the chief executive officer of the National Pension and Provident Fund.

Launch of 60th Birth Anniversary Commemorative Coins

The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan (RMA) launched commemorative coins for the 60th Birth Anniversary celebration of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck on 6th November 2015 in the RMA. The coins were minted by the RMA on the command of His Majesty the King.

Re-introduction of housing & vehicle loans.

This is to inform the general public that the RMA will lift the ban imposed on Housing and Vehicle loans with effect from 1st September 2014. The policy ban of March 2012, although unconventional in nature, was inevitable and had to be implemented by the RMA given the severe macroeconomic imbalances the country faced during the time.

MoU signed with Bangladesh FIU and Korea FIU

The Financial Intelligence Unit of Bhutan (FIUB) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) and the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KoFIU) concerning cooperation in the exchange of financial intelligence relating to money laundering, associated predicate offences and terrorist financing on 17th July 2014 in Macau, China.
