Memorandum of Understanding between FIU Myanmar and FIU Bhutan.

The Financial Intelligence Unit of Bhutan has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Myanmar Financial Intelligence Unit concerning cooperation in the exchange of financial intelligence relating to money laundering associated predicate offences and terrorist financing on 31st October 2017 in RMA Board Room. The MoU between FIUs as a part of the FATF 40 recommendations is a coordination mechanism on the effectiveness of the AML/CFT system and it also establishes the effective mechanism of international cooperation and information sharing for AML/CFT issues. With the signing of MoU the FIUs can take more action actively and effectively against money laundering and terrorist financing offences though information sharing. With the signing of MoU with Myanmar the FIU Bhutan will have MoU with 5 countries (Bangladesh Korea Cambodia and Sri Lanka).
