Bhutan Care Credit Microfinance Project Launched

Bhutan Care Credit Limited (BCC) is officially registered as a Microloan Institution with the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan with effect from 1 st  July, 2018. BCC is the fourth Microfinance Institution registered with the RMA. The Institution is established, in accordance with the Vision and Royal Command of His Majesty The King, to provide financial services to sections of populations not covered by existing financial service providers. The institution was officially launched on 9 th August, 2018 and Dasho Penjore, Governor, Royal Monetary Authority graced the launching ceremony.

His Majesty has emphasized the importance of improving access to credit for promoting entrepreneurship on numerous occasions, and specifically commanded that financial institutions had the responsibility to play a greater role in this regard,during the National Day Address in Trongsa in 2016. Bhutan Care Credit Limited has been registered to complement the initiatives of other financial service providers by reaching out to individuals and communities who are otherwise unable to access credit. It focuses on promoting income-generating activities towards financial empowerment at the grassroots. Affordable and sustainable micro-credit and financial services will help in the creation of an empowered inclusive Bhutanese Society, and contribute to our National goal of GNH.

The BCC will prioritize entrepreneurs from within the agricultural community, spouses of armed force personnel, and youth, for loans. Loans may be granted to individuals or groups.
