Launch of 60th Birth Anniversary Commemorative Coins

The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan (RMA) launched commemorative coins for the 60thBirth Anniversary celebration of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck on 6th November 2015 in the RMA. The coins were minted by the RMA on the command of His Majesty the King.

 

Her Royal Highness, Ashi Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck graced the launching ceremony of the gold and silver coins at the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan. Four types of commemorative coins, two in gold and two in silver have been minted as a one-time, limited edition release. The coins were minted by the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom.

 

Each gold commemorative coin weighs 15.55 grams and measures 27mm in diameter with only 100 pieces of limited edition. The first type of gold commemorative coin bears the portrait of His Majesty that was used for His Majesty’s 25th Coronation Anniversary Commemorative Coin. The second type of gold commemorative coin bears the portrait of His Majesty used on the sertrum coins minted in 1979. The reverse side of both coins bears the official logo for the celebration of the 60th Birth Anniversary.

 

Each silver commemorative coin weighs 31.10 gm and measures 38.61 mm in diameter with 2000 pieces of limited edition. The first type of silver commemorative coin bears the portrait of His Majesty that was used for His Majesty’s 25thCoronation Anniversary commemorative coin. The second type of silver commemorative coin bears the portrait of His Majesty that was used on the sertrum coins minted in 1979. The reverse side of both coins bears the official logo for the celebration of the 60th Birth Anniversary.

 

The launch ceremony provided RMA with the opportunity to offer their heartfelt gratitude to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo for his selfless service to secure the peace, prosperity and happiness of all Bhutanese for all times to come.
